Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 4, 2026

1. Introduction

FloatMessage ("we", "us", or "our") operates the FloatMessage platform at floatmessage.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data We Collect

Account Data

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile information provided by your authentication provider (Google).

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the dashboard, including messages created, settings configured, and feature usage.

Visitor Data (via Embed Script)

When the FloatMessage embed script loads on a website, it may collect the following information about site visitors:

  • IP address (used for geo-targeting and approximate location)
  • Page URL and referrer
  • Browser type and device information
  • Interactions with floating messages (views, clicks, dismissals)
  • Live chat messages and any information voluntarily provided in pre-chat forms (name, email)

WordPress Plugin Data

The FloatMessage WordPress plugin sends the configured User ID to our API at floatmessage.com/api/wp-status to check account and trial status. This request is cached and occurs when an admin visits the plugin settings page.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate the Service
  • To display floating messages and chat widgets as configured
  • To enable geo-targeting and visitor analytics
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To send account-related notifications (trial expiration, service updates)
  • To improve the Service and fix issues

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We may share data with third-party services that are necessary to operate the platform:

  • Google — for authentication (OAuth sign-in)
  • Google Gemini — for AI auto-reply in live chat, when enabled by the account owner. Chat messages are sent to Google Gemini to generate responses.
  • Payment processor — for subscription billing

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Chat messages and account data are stored on secure servers. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Chat messages and visitor interaction data are retained for the duration of your subscription. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.

7. Cookies

The FloatMessage dashboard uses cookies for authentication and session management. The embed script may use local storage to track message dismissal preferences (e.g., so a dismissed message does not reappear).

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Contact
