Google Business Profile

Video: Turn your Google listing into a website

Paste a link to your business on Google Maps and FloatMessage reads the public details from your listing - name, address, phone, opening hours, rating and reviews - and uses them to build a landing page. Those same details then drive the tool recommendations on your dashboard.

Importing your listing

Open AI Landing Pages and paste your link into the Google Business Profile field. Both forms work:

  • The short share link, https://maps.app.goo.gl/...
  • The full URL, https://www.google.com/maps/place/...

This is a read of public data, not an account connection. There is no OAuth step, FloatMessage never has access to your Google account, and nothing is written back to your listing.

What gets imported

Opening hoursPage copy, and prefilled booking hours

Photos from your Google listing are not imported. Images on your landing page are generated for you instead, and you can replace any of them from the page editor.

Recommended tools

Video: Tools that fit your business

After an import, the Get started card on your dashboard adds up to three suggestions chosen from what your listing says. They are always optional and never block the card from completing.

  • Booking - when your listing takes reservations or is an appointment-based category, and has usable hours
  • Social proof - when you have at least 4.3 stars from 10 or more reviews
  • Chat AI - whenever there are business facts worth answering from
  • Opening hours popup - for walk-in businesses that do not take bookings
  • Tap to call - when your listing has a phone number
  • Contact form - when your listing has no website of its own

Booking hours and timezone

Starting a booking message from the recommendation fills your weekly hours from the listing. Two details are worth checking:

  • Timezone is estimated from your location's UTC offset, so it does not account for daylight saving. Confirm it in the booking editor.
  • Split hours - if you close for an afternoon break, only the first window of each day is imported. Add the second window by hand.

Sending customers from Google to your page

Google cannot send customer messages to a website. The in-profile chat that did this - Business Messages - was shut down on 31 July 2024, and there is no contact-form action type in its place. What a profile can do is send the customer to a link you own, and because we host your page with the widget already on it, they arrive somewhere they can act.

Open a published page in your dashboard and you'll find a Use this on Google Business panel with the exact URLs to paste into your profile:

  • Website (Edit profile -> Contact -> Website) - your page, contact form included.
  • Book online (Edit profile -> Bookings) - carries ?fm_open=<id> so the booking widget is already open when they land, instead of waiting behind its normal trigger.

The fm_open parameter works on any page running the embed, not just hosted ones. It overrides the message's trigger, schedule and dismiss memory, but still respects URL and device targeting, and only opens a message that page was already serving.

Profile checker

Profile checker scores your listing out of 100 across eight checks, weighted by how much each one costs you: website link (22), review count (18), photos (14), opening hours (14), phone (10), star rating (10), description (8) and category (4). Every finding quotes the value we actually read off your listing, so you can verify each one against Google yourself.

The same checker runs publicly at /check with no signup, and produces a shareable report. The difference in the dashboard is that it remembers: each time you press Re-check now we store a snapshot, so the page shows your score moving as you close the gaps. A public scan is a single moment; this is the trend.

Review replies

Reviews lists the reviews Google publishes on your listing and drafts a reply for each, grounded in what that reviewer actually wrote and in your own profile details. The draft opens in an editor. Nothing is ever posted automatically, because a reply publishes in your name and stays there.

Drafts are written to specific rules. They quote something the reviewer mentioned rather than sounding templated, never invent offers or discounts, and never ask for another review, which is against Google's policy. For a critical review the draft acknowledges the problem without arguing and without conceding fault, offers no compensation, and invites the conversation to continue privately.

Two limits worth knowing, because they come from Google rather than from us. The public listing exposes at most five reviews however many you have, and it does not say which ones you have already answered. Lifting both requires Google Business Profile API access, which you would authorise for your own listing from that page once it is available.

Review QR code and printed signs

Every profile report includes a QR code that opens Google's write-a-review form for your exact listing, so nobody has to search for you. It works from your place id alone, needs no Google login to generate, and is free to print for as long as you like. The Google mark in the middle is safe: the code is generated at error correction level H, which reconstructs up to about 30% of a damaged symbol, and the mark covers roughly 4%.

If you would rather have a proper one turn up, the same artwork is available printed at /signs - a window sticker for the glass, a rigid counter sign, or a folded table tent, 150 x 100mm, $29.99 including shipping. The business name and QR come from your stored check, so a sign can never be printed with someone else's details.

Re-importing

Your page does not track your listing over time. Editing your hours on Google will not change a page you have already published. To refresh, paste your listing link again - the newest import replaces the stored details and the recommendations update with it. Pages you have already published stay exactly as they are until you edit them.

If the import finds nothing

A failed lookup is never fatal - the builder carries on with the description you typed. The usual causes are a link that points to a search results page rather than a specific business, or a listing that has been removed. Open your business on Google Maps directly and use ShareCopy link to get a link that resolves cleanly.
